WRITING...taking chances

So, did you all know that Janae Allbee writes books??? Well, at least someday she will, right now she has chapters coming together and has let me read them. Very brave of her. It is hard to let someone read something you have written, you never know what they will think.

So, I need to get over my fear of what people will think of my writing if I want to be a published author someday. I wrote a few poems in April - National Poetry month. I got ideas from Poetic Asides blog that had different prompts to help get writing.

So here goes...I reveal myself to you!

Prompt #1: Firsts

My First Death

How does one prepare for death to appear?
It came so sudden.
I was left to make sense of something that didn’t have sense.
What do I do now?
My first death.

Prompt #2: Put yourself in someone (or something) else's skin and write a poem about the experience

RAIN #1

Falling fast,
falling hard,
falling soft,
falling.

RAIN #2

I come from so high I see everything before I land. SPLAT!

RAIN #3

As I fall I meet
clouds,
birds,
buildings,
flags,
lights,
cars,
umbrellas,
jackets,
boots,
cement,
flowers,
dirt.

I feel the sun.

I rise up.

I fall again.

What an adventure!

Prompt #3: HAIKU

Strong tall mountain,
made with small tiny rocks,
together strong tall mountain.

MEALS

So, have you ever had a night where you didn't have a clue what to make for dinner???

Well...I have that almost every night.

I love using online recipes that I come across on familyfun.com and allrecipes.com

Today I came across, again, a great tool on FamilyFun.com. It is a whole month of recipes already planned for you. My family won't eat a whole meal every night, so the left overs carry to the next day allowing me not to have to use each day's recipe.

Anyway, it is a great help. Thought you all might enjoy some fresh ideas for your cooking!

Sweet Baby Blue

My sister, Allison, is so very talented!

She put together the lyrics & music to this song on Sunday and it is beautiful!

For me, it was a reminder of our little Spencer Mark who died during pregnancy March 2007. It also reminds me of Madelyn Marie Christiansen (Feb 2008) - Heidi & Chris' daughter, who is now in Heaven keeping my little Spencer company. I am sure they must be playmates. :)

Hope you enjoy this song like I did. It had a healing affect on my heart to remember deep emotions often put aside for day to day living.

ENJOY!

SWEET BABY BLUE

Sweet baby blue how your mommy loved you
Closed your sweet eyes as we kissed you goodbye
Sweet baby blue that the heavens still knew
Sweet baby blue, in a moment and you
were gone, a short song

Sweet baby blue with the skies opened wide
Angels have welcomed you back to their side
Sweet baby blue, the world will miss you
Sweet baby blue
I’m your mom, I’m your mom

Tender days, to have you near
Still the Promise is ringing clear
I will watch over you,
Sweet baby blue

Sweet baby blue how your mommy loves you
I’ll find your sweet eyes and our heartstrings will bind us
Sweet baby blue that the heavens still knew
Sweet baby blue, just one moment with you
Carry on, carry on, carry on, carry on…

Brags Rags Boutique

So, I have picked up an old hobby...sewing.

A few years back I started making some Burp Rags, which I call BRAGS (burp+rags=Brags).

I started up again and actually just sold some on etsy.com. Etsy is a great place for fun handcrafted items.

So, the lady who bought my Brags wanted a matching blanket and here is the final product. She really loved it, which made me feel great. The Brags have a satin edge and the blanket has satin and Minky sides with satin edging. Thank goodness a friend had an embroidery machine which she kindly let me use to embroider the girl's name.

I also sold a pillow cover from some fun Novelty fabric. This pillow is a way for me to attract more money into our lives...hopefully Jeff will get a job offer here in the next month.

I have many more ideas for things I want to create...just need an embroidery machine, Serger and an maybe an appliqué creator. Such a small wish list, right???
